Monogram
Monogram Etiquette
- When engraving a monogram for one person, we recommend placing the first initial of the last name in the center (and making it larger) with the first initial of the first name to the left and first initial of middle name to the right. So Joseph Andrew Smith would appear as JSA.
Monogramming Tips
-
Traditional Monogram (For Women & Men):
- Traditionally monograms are done in the order of First, LAST, Middle/Maiden initials and the center letter (Last name initial) is larger. Any monograms will be done with this stated style unless you let us know otherwise. Give monograms in the order you want them appear.
- For Example: John Andrew Smith's monogram would look like this: JSA.

-
Same Size Monogram (Normally for Men):
- If you prefer the monogram to be engraved with all three letters the same size, be sure to select Times Block Monogram - All Letters Same Size font from the pull down menu. Remember to list the initials in the order that you want them to appear on the item. For this kind of straight monogram, the letters are normally in the order of First, Middle, Last.
- For Example: John Andrew Smith's monogram would look like this: JAS.

Writing Fonts - Names, Messages & Dates:
- Try to keep your messages short and keep in mind that longer names and/or messages will be engraved smaller so that they fit on the item, and therefore may be harder to read. Note: Times Block writing font is preferable for long messages because when engraved small it is easier to read. Email us if you have any questions prior to ordering.
